PPS proudly supports the ePortfolio initiative at the CMSA

In the last year, the global pandemic has led to an even more digitized world.

This presented a challenge for those in the medical community who relied on in-person and paper-based interactions to facilitate their roles in medical education.

From the challenge came an opportunity, and the stage was set for a powerful partnership.

The Professional Provident Society (PPS) recently came on board to sponsor digital initiatives offered by the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA). The sponsorship is aimed at supporting registrars during their training period by enhancing the current LogBox Academic offering.

Setting the stage

For now, the main focus will be supporting development and deployment efforts across the country.

This undertaking will also assist in subsidising the creation of future workplace-based assessment tools – a prodigious undertaking by the CMSA to modernise examination formats in South Africa.

PPS have shown tremendous support to the medical community in the past, and this marks another joint venture where they will be contributing to academic endeavours in this sector.

Our partners share their sentiments

Professor Flavia Senkuduge, current President of the CMSA, shared her excitement about the partnership: "Part of the transformation agenda of The Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) is to be at the cutting edge and at the forefront of innovation, particularly when it comes to specialist medicine. An important part of this is data management and to ensure that our registrars have a seamless manner to record all their training activities from the time they start as registrars, until they qualify as specialists on successful completion of their CMSA examinations. We are delighted to work with LogBox so as to achieve our agenda. Our relationship with LogBox spans over nine years with the vision of developing and implementing an online e-portfolio tool, that is user friendly, where entries can be made in real time, and that is ready made to submit with the application for the final specialist examinations. We encourage all our registrars and consultants to use our e-portfolio and attend the LogBox training sessions".

Adding value

This partnership will be focused on providing value to medical trainees and giving them access to a variety of PPS products and services, including financial advisory services.
