How LogBox has made an impact on COVID-19 management in South Africa
The Coronavirus pandemic has certainly provided challenges to the healthcare community at large. Early in 2020, LogBox was approached by the WITS Donald Gordon Medical Centre to assist with various digital initiatives at the hospital.
WDGMC already utilises LogBox in multiple clinical and patient centric environments.
LogBox rapidly deployed a screening solution to enable healthcare workers and patients to complete screening questionnaires before arriving at the hospital.
The digital patient onboarding and pre-admissions modules ensured that patients could complete demographic data and clinical forms at home before arriving at the hospital. This has already been in use at WDGMC for some time, but the pandemic certainly reinforced the need for a paperless and digitally efficient system.
The LogBox Clinical solution was also used to allow for clinical case co-ordination between multidisciplinary teams. It is in active use managing Covid-19 patients in-hospital, as well as providing ambulatory care to outpatients.
Dr Sue Tager, CEO of WDGMC comments,
“LogBox enabled us to create a real-time, interactive platform for healthcare providers to refer patients requiring urgent admission. This allows for fast-tracking of sick patients, optimized bed utilization and improved communication between the hospital and its healthcare providers.”Back
